Seems like I’ve got a new ritual. 😀 Easter was coming, I wanted a new dress, and Belladone came in my mind…as it did last year. 😉
Besides, concerning the previous one, it happened what I predicted : I love it so much that I do not dare wearing it. And it’s totally stupid, I agree with you. 😀 I only wear it in special occasions, which it’s not happening every morning. And I fear this one will live the same destiny. (foolish, I know. 😀 )
This amazing fabric, I found it in at the Plaine Market, Marseille. Love at first sight : its flowers, its colors, its shades hypnotized me, and I immediatly saw a Belladone.
By touching it I think it’s cotton piqué : quite thick, maybe a little bit too much for this pattern, but whatever, it was an evidence for me. A the end, the skirt misses some smoothness, but the result is quite harmonious.
The fabric fraying a lot, I didn’t know how to sew it. I searched some advices in my sewing books : I simply overlocked the seam allowances with my overlock machine, and fusing the zipper seam allowances. And It works !
As you can see it, I added some pipping. 😀 I couldn’t imagine Belladone without pipping. 😀 And I chose the closed back version.
Binding for the neckband and the armholes…
…and white cotton for the pocket bases.
When I met Eleonore, she told me that based on my measurements, I’m wearing a 38.5 for the waist. I traced my pattern according to this new information : if it’s okay for the waist, it’s too large at the shoulders. This should be modified for the next one. (Easter 2017 probably. 😀 )
(This picture is weird, my skirt seems all strange when in reality it’s not the case. Go figure !)
Good joking aside, what more could I say about this pattern that I love so much ? For me it’s one of the finest indie patterns. This dress is so feminine, so lovely. It’s a real pleasure to sew and to wear. (when you dare getting it out the wardrobe I mean. 😀 )
it is a wonderful pattern! and it looks lovely! I’ve sewn 2 myself ^^. Can I ask, what do you mean with you’re a 38.5? and how did you trace it then?
By 38,5 I mean my size is between a 38 and a 40 ! Here ( http://blog.deer-and-doe.com/7945-melilot-grading-between-sizes-3/ ) Deer and Doe made a great post about tracing between 2 sizes, maybe it will be useful ?
thank you, I wasn’t sure,
You’re welcome !
